People's Church

We had the immense privilege of being with our friends in Truro, Nova Scotia at The People's Church for their evening service and then again with the Women's Missionary Society on Monday evening. The folks at People's Church are actively involved with the ministry at Arrowhead in a number of ways and it was such an encouragement to be with them for the weekend! It's been a lot of years since we lived in Truro, but it's always nice to return and catch up with both old friends and new!

The ladies in the W.M.S. made thank-you and birthday cards for Arrowhead. The Birthday cards are filled out by the cabin leaders and we mail them to our campers throughout the year! They also collected money for postage to help Arrowhead with the expense of this very important ministry to our campers.

I am so pleased to announce that we have had an immense blessing at Arrowhead! Thanks to the kind donors through NCEM's Minute Man program, funds were made available to have a new roof put on the lodge at Arrowhead. But that is only the beginning of the story of how the Lord worked in His ministry here at Arrowhead. The kind folks at Kauffmann Metals in Maine made the materials available to us at their own cost, providing us with access to good steel and all of the fittings for the roof while remaining within our budget. Tom, of Tom's Construction was able to facilitate the transport of the materials to us and refused to charge us a thing. On May 29th he arrived with his skilled team of guys; each had volunteered their time to see the roof installed correctly! It was amazing to see these guys work together, our roof is almost 4200 sq. ft. and they had the entire thing completed by suppertime! What a huge blessing this is to the ministry at Arrowhead. We now have no worries about our roof here at the Center!

Skype 2.0: The People's Church

Tonight we had the privilege of having a Skype call with our friends at The People's Church in Truro. It was fantastic to be able to chat with them this way and share a short update about our summer and fall at Arrowhead!

Truro, Hatfield Point and Cumberland Bay

Our week started out last Sunday with a trip to the People's Church in Truro, Nova Scotia. Liz didn't accompany me on this ministry update trip - she remained behind at the Center to meet the arriving folks for our work week. It was a real pleasure to be at People's church and connect with some old friends. They are hosting their missions month and I was invited to share a ministry update for the Sunday evening service. Because Liz wasn't able to accompany me - I invited Todd Hill, a friend of ours from our church here in Cumberland Bay, to come along for the ride. We picked up Ben Bedecki on the way - it was a great night for a road trip and nice to have an extra few sets of eyes watching for moose.

Monday morning we started bright and early on some work projects. Our friends Rob & Irene joined us along with Paul and Ken from Lisbon Falls. They accomplished a lot of necessary projects; some plumbing, electrical, winterizing, equipment servicing, carpentry, landscaping, tree cutting, to name a few! We very much enjoyed the fellowship and company, working alongside our friends this week.

The boat has been winterized and our tractor has two brand new front tires to get us ready for the winter! We're well prepared and almost finished with our winterizing projects.

On Wednesday night I was invited to give a thirty minute update at Hatfield Point Baptist church. Ken and Paul accompanied me and we enjoyed an evening of fellowship with the folks there and a great opportunity to share our excitement in our ministries with NCEM at ANBC.

Tomorrow morning we'll be hitting the road and heading for Lisbon Falls, Maine to take part in their missions conference - we should be home Thursday next week! Please keep us in prayer as we travel and present Arrowhead's ministry.

The People's Church in Truro, NS

We had the pleasure of being a part of the Wednesday night Bible Study and Prayer Meeting at People's Church last night. When we lived in Truro (1999 - 2003) we worshiped at Peoples, and for three years Liz taught kindergarten (K4) at the Colchester Christian Academy at the church. It was a great pleasure for us to be able to share our excitement in this ministry with our friends there.

The enthusiasm that they showed for the ministry and our beginning in this work was a huge encouragement to us. The missions committee arranged for a collection of kitchen materials for Arrowhead and the congregation responded generously with a big hamper full of wonderful things for the kitchen.

Thank you so very much to the kind folks at People's Church for this wonderful contribution to the ministry here at Arrowhead Native Bible Center.

As you can see in the picture, we also received some generous gifts of pennies for the Penny Rolling Partay this Saturday!

It is this kind of support that helps us to smoothly operate or summer camps and events at Arrowhead. Last summer via the "Grocery Grabber Coupon" program Arrowhead was saved nearly $5,000 in grocery costs. Because we operate below cost for our summer camps this ministry is richly blessed by the practical gifts of local churches.

The People's Church

This morning Liz and I had the wonderful privilege of sharing about our new ministry with our friends at The People's Church in Truro. Liz and I attended People's Church six years ago when we lived in Truro - it was wonderful to be with them today to renew old friendships and meet new friends. It was indeed a real encouragement for us to be there on the closing day of their annual missions conference, and we were blessed to be cared for by the congregation in prayer.

During the service I shared a brief testimony of our life since leaving Truro and an update on our call to ministry, I also had the opportunity to show some pictures and video from this past summers camp ministries at Arrowhead.

We were also pleased to be asked to share with the kids during Junior Church. Elizabeth taught a lesson on sin with a wonderful object lesson for the kids illustrating how sin is separation from God and yet we can enjoy freedom through Jesus Christ.

We were excited to be able to use our new Arrowhead display and materials table for the first time today, many folks availed themselves of the various NCEM materials and stopped to chat with us about the ministry.

We did have an exciting start to the day and weren't sure if our car was going to co-operate with us today as it once again began to smoke as we neared Truro. But the smoking subsided and we arrived safe and sound - our return trip to Windsor was without incident - once again the Lord provided for us, for which we are very grateful.

This week promises to be a busy one, I am hoping to get a lot done on the house in preparing it for a realtor to look at, and we will be preparing our second newsletter update to send out in November.
