Summer Materials Project 2013

With all of this snow blowing around it's hard to image that ANBC's summer camps will be in full swing in just a few short months! We, and the advisory team have already begun to plan the summer programs and build our summer curriculum. And, with this we could certainly use your help!

At Arrowhead, it is our goal to have good materials that are complementary to the message brought by our guest speakers. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is our primary message, and we wish to see it presented clearly and a way that will resonate with our campers. We have selected three pieces of material for this summer that we would like to add to our program for our junior camps and for our volunteer training program. Please take the time to look at what we've selected and consider partnering with us in acquiring these materials.

We are prayerfully presenting five projects, and are seeking five churches to partner with us in raising funds to acquire these valuable materials for our summer camp programs. If you, or your fellowship, feel led to do so, please drop us a line.

Your Child's Profession of Faith by Dennis Gundersen

This is the book that has been selected for our volunteer training this year. It is often overlooked that our volunteers come from abroad and our team each week is often comprised of individuals from far and wide. There is a great importance, in our role as teachers and disciplers, to be on the same page, and to be connected with NCEM's principle's and practices. This highlights the necessity for good volunteer training, and this book will be an excellent companion to our training this year.

Who Will be King? Two Ways To Live by Matthias Media

This booklet is clearly and simply written for children and will serve as a companion to our chronological gospel presentation during each week of camp. After it is used as a review of each weeks teaching, it will be a take home for the kids.

Kids' Questions About The Bible and Creation by Cheryl Fawcett and Robert Newman

This book will serve as our cabin devotions book for our three junior camps (ages 8-12). It takes a narrative approach to answering questions that children have about God and Creation. It is our hope to incorporate the narratives and scripture in these chapters into our gathering times as well as cabin devotions. It will be an excellent book for each camper to take home with them after camp.

It's another New Year!

Greetings everyone, we are back in the saddle. We had a lovely Christmas holiday with Lizs' family in Nova Scotia, and enjoyed the opportunity to spend some time visiting with family and friends. The power was out here in Cumberland Bay for 28 hours while we were away, which made us a little nervous about our water pipes. Thankfully we have some wonderful neighbours and Roger Hill came to inspect for us when the power finally did come back on - no frozen pipes. Praise the Lord.

We returned on Sunday and unpacked, the next morning we awoke to no power once again, and no phone service, and no internet service. It was a little unnerving to realize we had no method of communicating with the outside world. We are still without telephone service, and as this is the fifth time since we moved here, we have decided we will do away with the land line entirely. We found a comparable cellular plan and will now use a cell phone as our home phone.

Today I've begun to get caught up on paperwork in the office and will begin working on Arrowhead's prayer letter 'The Quiver'. If you are not on our mailing list and would like to receive a copy of this in the mail, just drop me an eMail with your mailing address and I'll see that one is sent to you once they are published.

This week we will begin to plan for the summers camps and other programs that will happen throughout this year. Stay tuned for details. I do know we hope, Lord willing, to have 5 weeks of camp this year. Please keep us, incoming staff and future campers in your prayers as events approach.

Liz and I are still actively working on our deputation, and hope to have opportunity to share some more throughout this winter and Spring. Likewise Arrowhead is in need of financial support as well.

It is certainly promising to be a busy year, but we are well rested and prepared. With our P.A.T.H. training out of the way we will have adequate time to prepare for all of the ministries scheduled and unscheduled.

Riverglade United Baptist Church

Sunday morning Liz and I were pleased to share with the congregation at Riverglade Baptist. Their enthusiasm and support were a huge encouragement. They have promised to uphold us, our staff and campers in prayer as the summer camps approach! There will be opposition in many forms, and it is so important that our friends and supporters join with us in prayer as the summer approaches. It is vital that our staff maintain their relationship with the Lord and not allow themselves to be distracted from the most important relationship in their lives. Not only for ministry sake, but for their own spiritual well being as well! And please pray that even now the Lord would be preparing hearts and minds to hear the gospel presented clearly and practically at camp this year!

We are nearing year end with NCEM, and I have been quite busy today getting some book work done and beginning to prepare for the year end procedures. Roan and Laura at NCEM headquarters will have their work cut out for them as they merge over twenty sets of books from various NCEM departments.

Tomorrow Kevin and I have several meetings in the Fredericton area. We will be cashing in all of the pennies that we have received as well. I'm sure it will be an interesting visit to the bank! I'll let you know what the final tally is tomorrow night!

much-a-doo...

Well folks, Liz and I had a wonderful vacation over the Christmas Holiday. We spent slightly longer than two weeks with Lizs' family in Granville Beach, Nova Scotia. As you know we had a very busy Summer and Fall, and made great use of our time to relax.

We returned home to Cumberland Bay this past Sunday and dove right into work. I've been working with the books to try and bring everything up to date, I think I am just about done catching up, a few more minor details tomorrow and I'll be able to move ahead with
the books on a week to week basis.

Kevin and I traveled to Sussex on Tuesday and met with Arbing Equipment to finally put to rest our tractor woes. We received some financial assistance from NCEM headquarters and paid the bill. It was an unfortunate situation, and has left us a little wiser. (if you don't know the story, you can read my post in December) The tractor was delivered yesterday, Kevin & Ron Cole put on the snow blower today and we are in business.

I will be getting at the website in the next few days as well. Arrowhead, and the NCEM Eastern Field will be having a fully interactive website developed and put into operation prior to April (Lord willing) I will share some more details with you about the functionality of the website in another post, suffice it to say that we are hoping it will not only be a wonderful ministry tool, but will allow us to reduce some of our postal and printed form expenses.

If you are wondering just where our prayer letter is for January, I am hoping to get that to the post next week. We will be publishing the 'Just Mind The Gap' Prayer Letter just four times a year from now on. We initially were sending it every two months, but have decided that it might be more prudent to send quarterly. If you aren't receiving the prayer letter in the mail and would like to, we'd be more than happy to add you to the mailing, just let us know!

I will be working on producing the next edition of 'the Quiver' to be sent out in March. This little magazine is Arrowhead's own prayer letter and will be sent out quarterly as well. We are working on some printed collateral for Arrowhead (a camp brochure, and flyers for this summer's upcoming camps), these will be available once the details of this summers camps are neailed down. Kevin and Marcia are working hard at organizing the programs, speakers and staff for this coming Summer Camp season.

As a bit of an extra side project, I am working with Conrad Flett on a short series of videos geared to First Nations youth. The videos will focus on some very real issues for Native young people in Canada. Each will feature a short message from Howard Jollie, a native pastor in Winnipeg, as well as some testimony and music. It is Conrad's vision that these will be a valuable tool to reach out to youth by addressing, in an engaging way, some things that are important to them. I'm excited to have been asked to work on the project and hope to complete it prior to travelling out west to P.A.T.H. training this April.

We are beginning to think a little more about our travel out to P.A.T.H. in April. We have our book list from last year, and will each have to read five books from the list and write reports on them, due upon arrival in April. I have already read a couple of them and written brief reports for you, I will do the same with the remaining titles as I go.

In thinking about our upcoming training, I will be posting some details about our upcoming 'Penny Rolling Party' in conjunction with the fundraiser we are running... 'A Plethora of pennies'. We have been receiving some great support from churches, friends and family, we're excited to have you all share with us in this acute financial need.

Well, I think that catches us up for now, I do apologize for my absentee Blogging over the Christmas break. I hope to check in two or three times a week to keep you up to date on our shenanigans!
