ANBC Fall Work Week 2015

We are always blessed by the ministry of those who would come to serve the Lord at Arrowhead by using their God given abilities and talents to benefit the Bible Center. This Fall we were blessed, once again, in fellowship and hands on labour by the folks at Lisbon Falls Baptist Church.

It was with fond memories of our dear friend Ken Hodgkins that we worked alongside one another this year, without him. He was missed, and we reminisced about his love for the Lord and serving Him.

The gang was here for a week and we accomplished some much need projects at the mission house.

They built a much needed deck on the back of the new addition, that will now allow us to use the back door. Here we are transporting the framing from the shop to it's location at the mission house.

For a year the front deck on the mission house has sat askew and about six inches too high; unfortunately, due to the challenges we faced with the addition we ran out of time to put it back into place properly. We are now very happy to have it repaired and in place.

Mom and Valerie worked on a 22 foot long curtain for the chapel, to serve especially for the upcoming Circle Summit.

Fall Work Week 2012

This week we've had a fantastic week of fellowship and co-labour with some of our friends from Lisbon Falls Baptist Church, Lisbon Maine. This year, Pastor Jonathan Jones joined Paul and Ken for their annual trip to ANBC. They once again blessed us, sharing their skills and abilities in the maintenance and repair of Arrowhead properties and equipment. I'm always amazed at how much is accomplished. It is certainly a blessing to have physical support of this nature at Arrowhead, without it, we would certainly be overwhelmed with the maintenance and upkeep of the property and buildings.

This week, Pastor Jon was a "Jack of All Trades" and helped us with painting, organizing, cleaning, flooring and hauling brush.

This marks our last major event at Arrowhead for 2012, and with it's conclusion we begin to look to next year's ministries. We will spend the next few weeks completing our office work and begin planning for 2013. WMS, Visitation and a Work Team

As I sit here and reflect on the events of the past year, I can't help but recognize just how very full a year it has indeed been. The Lord has upheld us through each challenge and given us strength as we've wearied. He's provided for our needs and allowed us to follow Him down all of the paths ministry has taken us. It has been a challenging year, and it has been a blessed year. As we find moments of rest this fall, it seems as though years have passed since we first moved here last September. We look forward to what the Lord has in store for us at Arrowhead Native Bible Center in the coming years.

Last week we had the wonderful privilege of having the Shediac Baptist WMS group for the day to visit at Arrowhead. It is always such an encouragement to have folks come visit who are enthusiastic about the ministry and potential at ANBC. We enjoyed the opportunity to share with them about the ministries here and give them a tour of the facility. NCEM missionary, Venus Coté shared her testimony and we were all blessed by the majesty of our Lord in His provision for each of us who seek after Him.

That evening, after the WMS group left, three of our staff and a teen camper from this past summer arrived to spend the night. The next day, joined by two more young guys who had been staff and Kevin & I, all eight of us set off for Burnt Church to spend some time with some of the teens who had been to teen camp this year. It was a great day, we had the opportunity to meet some of the guys parents and connect with them. We spent the day at the park and had a feed with the fellas at the Dixie Lee! All of the guys expressed interest in spending more time with us, and we are hopeful to have more opportunities to minister to them.

Last Sunday we were blessed to be joined at Arrowhead by two men from Lisbon Falls, Maine. The two gentlemen came to serve with us for the week. Not only did they accomplish a remarkable amount of work while they were here, the came armed with some wonderful tools, that they left as a gift to Arrowhead! We can't begin to thank them adequately for their servants hearts and willingness to share their gifts and talents with us. It was a real blessing to have Ken Hodgkins and Paul Marstell with us!

This week the ladies are preparing for the upcoming ladies retreat this weekend. It sounds like it is going to be a great weekend, and there is a large turnout expected, possibly the largest to date!

This week the Puppet ministry team from Lisbon Falls Baptist Church came to minister with us at Arrowhead. The camp has been more full this week with 27 campers, it's been a great week. Once again people have had opportunity to minister in all different aspects of camp, from kitchen to waterfront, in cabins, on sports teams, games and maintenance. There is no job that isn't important during camp, and it's encouraging to see people giving it their all no matter what has been asked of them!

We're looking forward to a restful weekend as we prepare for teen camp. We've received applications from teens from six communities, teen camp is shaping up to be a full week! The Lord has been working in a lot of lives, both the campers and staff. We're really excited to see what He is going to do for teen camp!

NBBI and Goodbye

Last night Kevin and I left late for NBBI. We arrived near midnight and found an empty room in the guys dorm to crash in. We chatted with a few fellas who were still up and had a good nights sleep.

This morning we were up and at the chapel for about 8:30. We enjoyed visiting with some old classmates and faculty and reminiscing about our time at NBBI. It seems so long ago. Kevin and I shared in chapel about Arrowhead and showed the camp promo. We allowed a few minutes after chapel to visit with the students and were more than pleased to hand out several staff applications. It looks like we'll have an excellent showing of Bible school students this year - which will be a huge blessing.

Immediately after chapel we hit the road again to get back here to the work team. With some more assistance from Roger Hill the new well is finally up and running. The new pressure tank is installed and the switches are all active, this will allow us to use the old well as a back up in the event we have any trouble with the larger well.

The work team will be leaving early in the morning, and let me tell you, they've blown our minds at just how much they have accomplished this week! There are now stairs up to the new office building, the stairs in the shop are complete, the drop ceiling in the medical station, a window in the medical station door, the new sinks and plumbing repairs, all of the electrical work for the well and new office. It has been a wonderful encouragement to have these guys with us, and we've really enjoyed working alongside them and getting to know them.

It has been an exceptionally busy few weeks, and it has been challenging for all of us. It will be nice to have a day to recuperate and then we'll be off to the races again. There's a great deal to accomplish before we head out West for training. Year end is coming up in a couple of days so I have quite a bit to do with the QuickBooks to have them ready for headquarters. Liz and I will be sharing at a couple of more churches before we go, Kevin and I have a week of meetings coming up and we will be getting the camp printed materials in the mail in the next week or two. Before we know it we're going to be out West wondering how we got there.

It has been a busy day at Arrowhead today... let me show you...

Ken, from the Lisbon Falls work ministry team, installed 3 new porcelain sinks in the boys and girls bathrooms to replace faulty ones.

Cleve (I'm not sure if I'm spelling your name right, my apologies if I am making a mess of it), working on the panel to prepare for the installation of the new well pump in the new well.

Ken installed a drop ceiling in our future medical station room... it looks fantastic!

Scott, a member of the Lisbon Falls Work Ministry Team, working on retro-fitting a set of stairs to suit our needs in the ANBC shop. These will be a most welcome addition to our workshop.

Mr. Hill and I burned the scrap pile and several big piles of brush this afternoon.

Roger Hill, Mr. Mowat and Mike all worked in the snow to get the well all finished. All of the outside work is now done, new pump down, wires and pipe run, the only thing left to do is hook up the new pressure tanks and were all set.

Liz and Marica worked hard in the kitchen to keep everyone well fed!

Tonight Timothy Simon came from Eel Ground and shared his testimony and a devotion with all of us. He shared some very encouraging words from the Bible, we were blessed to have him with us.
