Well it was quite a day. I had my appointment with Dr. Charlie Brown today, the allergy specialist [who just happens to also be a pediatrician]. He was quite a nice fellow and very kindly helped me to discover just what it is I'm allergic to. As it turns out, it is not an allergic reaction that I am suffering with. What I have been suffering with is a condition that causes me to react to pressure on my skin. Apparently this is the cause of my hives, it's a condition known as Delayed Pressure Urticaria, which I guess is just a fancy way of saying hives caused by physical contact, or pressure to the skin (bed sheets, socks, palms of hands from manual labour etc.) In my case it seems to be aggravated by heat, is accompanied by headaches and also spasms in the esophagus. It is not a serious condition and will eventually clear up, which I am thankful for and look forward to :0)
I spent several hours on the phone yesterday and (among other things) wrangled up two U-Haul trailers that Kevin and I will retrieve from Dartmouth next Thursday. Lizs' brothers Jonathan and Peter are each bringing a vehicle (Peter a pick-up and Jonathan a van). I will be taking the car full and Kevin will have the truck. We will load the vehicles with stuff and the four of us will convoy up to the mobile home at Arrowhead on Friday, with Kevin and Peter pulling the trailers. We are hopeful to be able to move almost everything that day. If you have a van or truck or station wagon and would like to join the wagon train we'd love the help!
While I spent the day on the phone yesterday, I made arrangements for our new address, phone number, internet, power etc. So, after September 23rd, you will have to contact us at the following:
