Every year about this time we launch a project campaign for the ministry at Arrowhead. This year we have a fantastic opportunity for some practical help for Arrowhead. This year we have a super exciting opportunity for you to join with us in!!

THE OPPORTUNITY
NCEM has given us the opportunity to acquire a truckload of supplies from a ministry centre in Alberta; items ranging from sporting goods, commercial kitchen supplies, tools, office supplies and furniture. There is a 15 passenger van and the possibility of a trailer that we can acquire at very little cost (inspection and minor repairs). There are supplies at NCEM HQ that we can retrieve and haul East, as well as an almost brand new commercial Dishwasher that we are being given in Saskatchewan as well.

THE TASK
In order to avail Arrowhead of this fantastic opportunity I will need to recruit a second driver and we will need to fly to Edmonton. From there we will travel to Lac La Biche to retrieve the van and trailer and load it with the materials destined for Arrowhead. We will then travel to Saskatchewan to retrieve the commercial dishwasher and continue on to NCEM headquarters for any remaining materials. Then we will take turns driving and it will be WAGON's EAST.

THE TRIP
The journey from Alberta to Cumberland Bay will be almost 4700 kms and will take 3 to 5 days. It is our plan to take the journey prior to the end of March. So we are very limited in our timeline.

THE ASK
This journey will require us to fund two one-way plane tickets from Fredericton to Edmonton, fuel for the return journey and meals along the way, as well as some minor repair fees for the van and insurance for the journey. We are estimating that $2,600 would cover all of these costs for this project; the benefits far outweighing the expense.

Second Annual Christmas Craft Market

Our second annual Christmas Craft Market was a great success. We are so thankful for everyone who was able to come out and volunteer to make it a success. Through the event we were able to raise enough money to put new signage on the property. Further to that, it was great to see so many new faces and give them an opportunity to see the facility we have here.

We set up a cosy spot for people to enjoy their lunch. 

We are so grateful for the generous donation of our beautiful Christmas Tree from McCready's U-Cut. 

Liz hosted a table of baked goods. 

We had a number of vendors offering a variety of different home made goods. 

We served "Christmas Dinner Poutine" and it was a great success.

ANBC Corn Boil

This fall we hosted our third annual Corn Boil and Pie Auction fundraiser. It's always a great deal of fun and we always enjoy the fellowship and laughter. This year we raised almost $2000 to go toward security cameras and signage for the camp buildings. A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the event and came out to support the camp.

We had 24 beautiful pies and cakes donated to auction off; final bids ranged from $25 to $100.

Fall Corn Boil Fundraiser

On Saturday, we held our second annual Corn Boil and Pie Auction! It was a blast, we had a great turn out and people had a lot of fun bidding (and over bidding) on pies. The purpose of this particular fundraiser was to aid in raising funds for a new playground and water park. It is our hope, Lord willing, to see something installed next year to serve for our summer camp programs!

There was a great turn out, estimated between 70 and 80 guests to the Center.

Our friend Rob McCready served as our auctioneer for the evening. Pies were flying out the door, some for as much as $85!

It was a lot of fun to have Liz's brother and his family with us for the weekend, the kids helped a lot with getting ready for the event!

For several years Arrowhead has been collecting Canadian Tire Money. This has been a wonderful blessing to the ministry at Arrowhead, allowing us to purchase many items for our summer camps and programs over the years. With changes to the Canadian Tire money reward program we have begun to wonder if there is another avenue that supporters of Arrowhead can give through their regular purchasing, as they have with the Canadian Tire Money collecting.

We will continue to collect the Canadian Tire Money until it is phased out completely, but we are very excited to present a new dividends program that we anticipate will assist ANBC in meeting our regular monthly expenses.

The new program is called FundScrip, and is a website that you can visit and register on and purchase gift cards from, offering over 90 different Canadian retailers. Each time a gift card is purchased on the site a dividend between 2% and 15% of the value of the gift card is earned for Arrowhead. The opportunities are as abundant as the variety of options. Some people will use the site to purchase gift cards for their own regular shopping (groceries, gas, department store), while others will use it for gift giving or even corporate purchases.
