A Visit to NBBI for Chapel

It's always great to connect with Bible School students! This year Kyle and I visited the school with Andrew Ardern for two days and enjoyed speaking in Chapel as well as taking in some classes and visiting students.

A lil' visit to NBBI

It was a privilege to be able to visit New Brunswick Bible Institute. We had a ministry team from the school join us at Arrowhead this year for a week of summer camp - and it was nice to be able to reconnect with them and meet some new faces as well. It's always a pleasure to visit the school.

We took the opportunity to sit in on a couple of classes while we were at the school. Dave Doherty is an Associate Missionary with NCEM and represents the mission on the campus; he serves as the Campus Pastor, the Academic Dean and facilitates many of the courses.

The Spring Wind-Up

The Spring Wind-Up has begun! Every year at about this time we crest the hill and begin the downward roll to summer! The past couple of weeks have certainly propelled us forward.

Last Monday I made an early trip in to Fredericton to have a new windshield put in the camp truck so that it will meet MVI conditions. I took the opportunity to pick up some new windows some hardware items for the impending tuck shop renovation.

The following day Liz, Ivy and I made our way to Victoria Corner, to N.B.B.I. for an opportunity to speak to the students and faculty in chapel. As always, it was great to visit the school and reconnect with friends and connect with new students. This year we are hopeful to recruit a student from either Bible School or a senior in High School to serve at our summer camps in the role of Program Co-Ordinator. Following our visit to the school we made a quick detour to Houlton, ME to pick up Tuck items and prizes for the upcoming ANBC Men's Retreat.

As we prepare for the arrival of our work teams next week, we have been collecting all of the materials and equipment that the teams will need for the projects! Stay tuned to the blog next week for updates on our renovations!

On Sunday, we had the privilege of visiting Forest Hills Baptist Church in Saint John. I was asked to present the ministries of NCEM and ANBC and to preach in the morning services. I was also given the opportunity to give a seminar on evangelism during a luncheon meeting for their summer ministry teams. It was encouraging to be able to be with the folks at Forest Hills and a great opportunity to be able to share with their fellowship and ministry teams. Forest Hills will be sending a team to one of our summer camps and the Korean Global Mission church will be sending a team to another of our weeks. We look forward to a wonderful summer of ministry together.

It is year end and audit time at NCEM, so this week I have been working on my year end checklist for the ANBC books as well as providing information at the auditors request. It is perhaps not the most exciting part of ministry to worry about the finances and books, but it is comforting and encouraging to know that we have an executive team and CFO who are committed to ensuring the details are being cared for.

Tomorrow Todd & Zach Nielsen and I will visit Devon Park Christian School to share during their chapels. Perhaps the Lord will impress upon some of the senior high students to serve with us this coming summer.

As our schedule continues to fill and we move ever closer to summer, please keep the ministries of ANBC in prayer. That we would be diligent to our roles here and that the ministries might be fruitful and full and bring Glory to God!

NBBI Teen Retreat 2012

This weekend, Liz and I had the opportunity to take some teens from Oromocto to the NBBI teen retreat. Liz connected with some young teen girls who were very eager to come along with us to the school. We picked them up Friday and headed up to Hartland. It was a great opportunity to spend some time with the girls, all of whom have been coming to our summer camps for years and sometimes still attend Carroll and Cathy Hills' kids club.

We appreciated your prayers as we were away, it was a wonderful weekend. Everyone seemed to have a good time and engaged with the program. Our outing went smoothly and without incident. Trent Boyd, a pastor from West Buxton, Maine was the guest speaker; and he brought the gospel to the teens and leaders clearly and dynamically and in a way that held their attention.

The teams and leaders all lined up in their teams getting instructions for their next challenge.

The afternoon polar bear dip!

Brrrrrrr...

Game time!

Men for God Conference: N.B.B.I.

This past weekend, I had the privilege to attend the Men's conference held at New Brunswick Bible Institute. The conference featured guest speaker Dr. Michael Loftis, President of ABWE and special music by High Meadow, a men's quartet from Maine.

The theme of the conference was 'Firemen', and was carried through the weekend. We enjoyed demonstrations by several local fire departments as well as messages encouraging us to be 'battle ready' as Christian men in a fallen world.

The conference was a great encouragement and offered opportunity for fellowship and reconnecting with old friends. I took the opportunity to introduce myself to a man working as a missionary in Northern Quebec. It happens that he is working in a community where a friend of mine lives. I haven't seen my friend in many years, we spent a couple of years in high school together, which is when we last saw one another. After completing school, my friend returned to his home community where he now lives and works. I asked the missionary if he knew my friend, and he did indeed know of him. I felt burdened that day to take the opportunity to send a devotion book to my friend and his wife, so I asked the missionary if he would take it to them when he returned. He willingly agreed so I picked up a one year devotional book at the N.B.B.I. bookstore and sent it along. Just today, to my great delight my friend sent me an eMail telling me that just 2 weeks ago he accepted Jesus as his personal saviour, and that his wife too had accepted the Lord!

Praise the Lord! And please keep them in prayer as they seek a new life in Christ.

As part of the Hartland Fire Dept. demonstration, this car was disassembled using the jaws of life and removed from the gym in pieces in only 15 minutes.

There was a large crowd that came from as far as Saskatchewan and Massachusetts.

It was a refreshing weekend! (and a bit exhausting)

P.S. - special thanks to the N.B.B.I. Facebook page for the pictures :0)
